Another Falcons free agent follows Arthur Smith to Steelers
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Arthur Smith continues to draw from his Falcons’ connections to fill out his Steelers offense.

Atlanta’s former coach surely had a part in bringing Van Jefferson and Cordarrelle Patterson to Pittsburgh . Now, it’s MyCole Pruitt who is headed to the Steel City, who followed Smith from the Titans to the Falcons and now the Falcons to the Steelers.

Pruitt signed with Atlanta in 2022 and returned last season on another one-year deal, making eight starts and appearing in all 17 games in 2023. Despite only catching nine of his 12 targets for 110 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown, MyCole Pruitt is an asset in the run game.

“MyCole, he does a great job at the line of scrimmage,” his former position coach said earlier in the offseason. “At the point of attack, he’s strong. He’s a veteran, he knows who he is. He knows how to play the game of football, he’s knowledgeable.”

Pruitt joins an already-loaded Steelers tight end room that features Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington at the top of the depth chart. Arthur Smith runs a ton of multiple tight end looks, so Pruitt has an excellent chance of carving out a role.

The pipeline of former Falcons following Dan Quinn to Washington and Arthur Smith to Pittsburgh continues. Nobody should be surprised when Raheem Morris and his coaching staff continue to draw on their relationships in free agency.

They already have when they signed Kirk Cousins, given Morris and Cousins spent time together in Washington. The Falcons still have a few moves to make, so look for free agents with connections to Morris’ staff as potential targetss
