RJ Davis Will Return to UNC!

Davis has made a decision on his future.

North Carolina guard RJ Davis is set to return to North Carolina for a fifth-and-final season. Bringing back the returning ACC Player of the Year is huge for the Tar Heels.

Incredible Season

Davis was not named either preseason First or Second-Team All-ACC and ended up winning the conference Player of the Year award. It took him leading UNC to a 25-6 regular season record and a first-place finish. North Carolina would end up as a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament, and he would average 21.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists on the year.

Davis was the Tar Heels first ACC Player of the Year since 2016-2017, when Justin Jackson won it. That and being named a First-Team All-American ensure that his jersey will be hanging in the Dean E. Smith Centers rafters after he leaves the program. Davis is also less than 800 points away from first on UNC’s all-time scoring list.

What Now?

North Carolina’s backcourt looks set. The Tar Heels should have one of the best backcourts in the nation, and the best in the ACC. With Elliot Cadeau running point, Davis can continue to play on and off the ball, which was a major benefit for last year’s team. This is a massive development for North Carolina’s outlook next season.
